Head on over to Monsters Arcade Stream channel to see the action that went down this weekend. I cant embed justin tv streams on here so i can provide the links for you to copy paste. Mike Ross and Gootecks participate in this tournament as well, it looked like a lot of fun. Also below for those who do not own her yet are some videos of Jill.
Every Wednesday a group of top players meet to compete. In a rankin type tournament. Everyone from Justin Wong, Combofiend,
clockwork, Floe, Mike Ross etc. So a lot of heavy names show up every Wednesday. I am gonna start posting some games of players who are putting in work. Today I am going to start with Clockwork. Last time i saw Clockwork play was against The dark prince in a money match in a battle of pride and money. Also after the match video i will post guides to Mvc3 charactors, this week we will start with amaratsu.
Clockwork Wednesday Night Fights. Thanks to the offcast crew for providing us with match videos and shoryuken.com for the amaratsu guide and trag13 for the combo video.
Clockwork vs Floe
Amaratsu Guide from shoryuken.com below and combo video.
Marvel vs Capcom 3 came to us after a decade from the classic. We saw endless amounts of matches, tournaments and money matches. A lot of us put in countless hours into master our teams and set ups. Competing trying to make a name for ourselves.
After awhile it became apparent that the community or at least the top players saw the same set ups. Sentinel, Storm, magneto,
Cable, Iron Man etc. So the game saw a lot of great years of matches that were based around 5 top-tier choices. Now imagine a game,
where a lot of the other choices where viable to. Sounds awesome doesn’t it. In my eyes i think Marvel vs Capcom 3 has achieved that.
Don’t get me wrong there still are top-tier choices but a lot of those top-tier choices can be countered and more easily dealt with than the old Marvel vs Capcom 2. The down side to Marvel vs Capcom 3 is that now it seems we might have a big influx of random top-level players, which I do not mind. Especially after the last decade of seeing the same names on top. The damage you can do with certain characters is ridiculous in a fun way though. Once the X-factor comes into play thought I think it does a little too much. Sentinel can basically 4 shot you and it lasts 30 seconds. In a game like Marvel vs Capcom 3 that’s a lifetime. Other characters to consider are Dante and Phoenix. Dante has around 40 moves in the game, an arsenal of moves to deal with anyone and Phoenix is just a problem. The beauty of it is, as those characters seem over powered they can be killed and dealt with or shut down if a mistake is made. Which is all put on the player and execution.
As far as mechanics go, you have your normal controls and simple set up. I started off with simple to see how i liked it and it was fun. Then you try out some of the combo video combos and realize simple is just not the way to go. Normal controls allow for more versatility and options compared to simple. Simple allows you to use 1 hyper move compared to normal that gives you access to all of them. It just takes more effort and dedication but well worth it if you plan on learning the game.
As far as controllers go while we are on the subject, i traded my Xbox to play on the ps3 and bought one of those madcats 6 button gamepads to hold me over till i can get another tourney stick. For marvel vs capcom 3 its good. The game moves at such a fast pace that im not sure i can keep up with it on stick since i never really played mvc2 on it just street fighter games mostly.
Learning curve for marvel vs capcom 3 i don’t think is too hard, but very deep. Which is the beautiful thing. You understand what needs to be done, you need to learn the moves and then its just execution. Then is understanding the different assist and characters and you’re in there like swim wear.
So if you’re a fighting game fan you will like marvel vs capcom 3. I think anyone can win at this game and be good which means either a lot more scrubs or a lot more competition. So bring it on. My ps3 name is fattydakid feel free to add me and we can go a few rounds.Dont forget Evo qualifiers and tourny this summer so be ready for the marvel action and super street fighter 4.
Below i leave you with some Sentinel tips and guide from DsP who is still doing his thing.
